Media Statement about the Meeting of Cairo University's Council

Cairo University's Council has held its meeting, headed by Dr.\ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, on Monday, 20/1/2014. The council discussed the violence that has been practiced by some students who belong to Muslim Brotherhood party on 16/1/2014. They tried to disrupt the exams, broke into office of Faculty of Law's Dean and smashed its contents; they launched missiles inside university campus, they attacked students by unprecedented acts of violence which resulted in loss of life and casualties.
This required agreeing with Ministry of Interior on securing the university, professors, students and exams until announcing exams results. This is according to Supreme Council of Universities' decree and judicial decisions that were issued concerning this matter, and according to what the university's council decided in its previous meeting concerning interference of police whenever there are acts of violence.
