On Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 11 a.m., Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, inaugurated the first stage of developing Printing Hall and Machines, Cairo University Center for Printing and Publishing, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdul-Nasser, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development, Dr. Khaled El-Amry, The Director of Cairo University Center for Printing and Publishing, Mr. Yousry Ibrahim Amin, General Secretary of Cairo University, and a group of Cairo University professors.
Nassar has confirmed in his speech that Cairo University will never allow any faculty to print any of its prints outside Cairo University Press. He added that Cairo University will never support any university book printed outside Cairo University Press. No scientific thesis is going to be discussed if not printed at Cairo University.
Noteworthy, the development plan of Cairo University Center for Printing and Publishing includes four stages estimated with 40 million EGPs value. This has been declared by Dr. Khaled El-Amry, The Director of the Center, in his speech. He confirmed that the first stage including 3 German machines at the highest level of quality and production is estimated at this stage with 10, 5 million EGPs value. Initiating the second stage is underway, and it includes providing the print with modern production lines of digital print of 12 million EGPs value.
El-Amry added that the second and third stages are going to be finished this year. The director of the center illustrated during the inauguration that Cairo University Press did not receive any concrete development since its establishment in 1948. Thus, he thanks and appreciates the president of Cairo University who presented full support to revive Cairo University Press and brought it out in this honorable image.
El-Amry said that the project of developing Cairo University Press is considered a real shift to the future of Cairo University which will usually be a beacon of science and scientists. He confirmed that the old machines were transferred to Alexandria Museum under the name of Cairo University for Printing and Publishing, adding that an elevator of the print workloads will be prepared during the coming period.
