In their meeting on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, Cairo University Council approved the nominations of the University for State Awards in year 2015, Nile Award in science, literature, arts and social sciences fields, and Awards of Merit in science, advanced technology sciences, social sciences, arts and literature, as well as pioneers Award.
As regards to Nile Award, Cairo University Council approved the nomination of Dr. Hidar Ghaleb, Faculty of Medicine, for an award in science field, Dr. Rashad Samy Barsoum, Faculty of Medicine, for advanced technology sciences award, Omar Khairat, musician, for art field award, Dr. Mohamed Hamdy Ibrahim, Faculty of Arts, for Literature Award, and Dr. Mufid Shehab for social sciences field award.
Regarding State Award of Merit in Science, Cairo University Council approved the nomination of Dr. Yehia Badr, the former Dean of the National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences for Basic Science Field Award, Dr. Hisham Gaber el-Enani, Faculty of Medicine, for Medical Sciences Field Award, Dr. Youssef Fawzy Rashed, Faculty of Engineering, for Engineering Sciences Field Award, and Dr. Mohamed Kamal Refaei, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, for Agricultural Sciences Field Award.
In respect of State Award of Advanced Technology Sciences, the University Council approved the nomination of Dr. Wahid el-Din Abdullah, Faculty of Sciences, for Science field award, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Zakary, National Cancer Institute, for Medical Sciences Field Award, Dr. Essam el-Din Khalil, Faculty of Engineering, in Engineering Sciences Field Award, and Dr. Sayed el-Barouty, Faculty of Agriculture, for Agricultural Sciences Field Award.
Respecting State Award of Merit to arts, literature and social sciences fields, the Council approved the nomination of Dr. Ahmed Reda Abbidien, Architectural Engineering – Faculty of Engineering, for Arts Field Award, Dr. Soliman el-Attar, Faculty of Arts, for Literature Field Award, and Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa Darwish, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, for Social Sciences Field Award.
Cairo University Council approved the nomination of Dr. Ali Abdul-Rahman, Faculty of Engineering, and Former University President, for Pioneers Award.
On the other hand, after the council finished their work at Cairo University Rowing Club, Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, Cairo University President, honored both Prof. Dr. Ezzuldin Abu-Steit, Cairo University Vice President for Education and Students Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Gamal Essmat, Cairo University Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, for finishing their term of office at the university. Prof. Dr. Nassar also honored 11 Cairo University Faculty Deans who finished their terms of office during the previous period, including Prof. Dr. Azza Agha, Former Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Reem Bahgat, Former Dean of Faculty of Computers and Information, Prof. Dr. Hasan Emad Mekkawy, Former Dean of Faculty of Mass Communication, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saleh Tawfik, Former Dean of Faculty of Dar El-Ulum.
The ceremony witnessed honoring General Kamal El-Dally, the New Giza Governorate.
