Anti-Harassment Unit - Cairo University organizes a number of activities by the participation of students, professors, and Civil Society organizations, in the occasion of Egyptian Woman Day. Sponsored by Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, Cairo University President, the activities begin throughout the period from Sunday, March 13, 2016, to Wednesday, March 17, 2016, at a number of faculties. The activities included sport, music and theatrical activities by student participation and ،، Rab,, band concert, as well as orientation seminars on the role of the university in combating harassment and violence against women. The activities included panel discussions and lectures in which officials from Anti-Harassment Unit and Civil Society organizations talked about the role of woman and the rights of equality in society.
Prof. Dr. Maha Al-Said, Head of The Anti-Harassment and Combating Violence against Women Unit – Cairo University, pointed out that a seminar on the role of university in combating harassment and violence against women from a legal perspective is going to be held at Faculty of Law on Sunday, March 13, 2016. Another seminar, entitled ،،Egyptian Woman in Politics and Economy,, , is going to be held at Faculty of Economics and Political Science on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Awareness seminar on taking action against harassment. A seminar, entitled ،،Man and Woman between Religion and Society,, , and a short play by students are going to be held at Faculty of Dar El-Ulum on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. All of these seminars and the short play are incorporated in the framework of activities held by Anti-Harassment Unit on the occasion of Egyptian Woman Day.
Dr. Ghada Ali, Coordinators of Activities at the Anti-Harassment and Combating Violence against Women Unit – Cairo University, said that the activities held by the unit aim at increasing the student awareness of boosting equality between man and woman, disseminating awareness of facing harassment and violence against woman. Professors and students from Cairo University participate in the activities as well as figures that represent civil society. Dr. Ghada Ali also pointed out that athletic shows for girls are going to be organized at indoor gymnasium at Cairo University Playgrounds, as well as poetry and caricatures competitions at some faculties, and a concert by ،،Rab,, band.
