Cairo University Boosts Free Medicine at its Hospitals, Donates for Floods Victims, Develops Medical Convoys at Flooded Governorates

Cairo University Council reviewed the educational progress at faculties in its meeting on Monday, October 31, 2016, headed by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar. The council urged providing students with social care, activating different student activities at both university and faculties level. The council recommended compensating expatriate students for the lectures they missed due to the delay of registration procedures. This comes in the context of the state policy for encouraging expatriate students admission to Egyptian Universities. Cairo University President referred to 4000 expatriate students studying at Cairo University with 25% of the numbers of expatriate students at the Egyptian Universities level. 


The council approved exempting the university students, who obtain gold, silver and bronze medals in recent championships of world universities. The council also exonerated them from study fees, honoring and motivating them to keep their athletic distinctiveness and their honoring representation for Egypt at the international level.


Cairo University Council decided to donate EGP 20, 000, 000 to the victims of the floods at some governorates of the Republic of Egypt. The University President agreed on allocating EGP 30, 000, 000 for Kasr Al-Ainy Hospitals, children at Cairo University Children Hospital and National Cancer Institute with EGP10, 000, 000 for each. The allocation is for operation and free medicine necessities and the reduction of burden over hospitals frequenters. The University Council said ،،the university performs its duty towards the state and society provided that it is equipped with financial and human potentials that enable it to play this role. ,,


The University Council approved developing medical convoys to be equipped with mobile operations and medicine and sent to Souhag, New Valley and Red Sea Governorates and providing the citizens there with therapeutic services after being exposed to floods.


The University Council said ،،Cairo University is keen on conducting scientific studies on the means of facing floods risks and preparing scientific conception for future confrontation. Faculties of Science, Engineering and Urban Planning will participate in such studies and conception in cooperation with Scientific Research Academy.
