The index of QS World University Rankings reveals in a report published on Thursday, June 8, 2017, that Cairo University globally occupies the rank 482. It is among the best 500 universities at world level according to 2017 rankings. Cairo University advances with 70 places higher than last year. It is the only Egyptian university ranked among the best 500 universities around the world. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings is an English institution concerned with education. It publishes this annual report of the best 800 universities around the world. QS index is one of the most prominent global rankings besides the well-known Shanghai Ranking. QS depends on many standards including academic reputation, the ratio of students to academic staff members, the rate of international publication of scientific research, quoting scientific research publications by other researchers around the world and the measurement of presented educational services level.
Cairo University President Gaber Nassar said that ،،The progress achieved by the university in QS international ranking in 2017 version which is higher than last year reflects the efforts exerted by the university administration, faculties and professors. Cairo University boosts the outputs of world university rankings, develops required standards to develop educational and research processes, increase international publication and enhance its quality.
Nassar refers to the presence of Cairo University in important global rankings throughout the last three years. This is an evidence on the academic reputation of Cairo University around the world.
Cairo University Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs Amr Adly said that ،،QS World University Rankings is one of the most important and influential three world rankings. It classifies the universities at the level of the best 800 universities around the world. It is similar to Shanghai ranking that classifies the best global 500 universities.,, Prof. Dr. Amr Adly pointed out that ،،Cairo University is strongly present in world university rankings whether at the level of universities or the level of academic sectors and programs.,,
