Dr. Elkhosht: The Pharmacy and Pharmacology major now ranks 64th globally, up from 151-200 in 2017


Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, reviewed a report from Dr. Ghada Abdel Bari, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, on the progress of the Pharmacy and Pharmacology major in the QS classification of university majors in 2024, ranking it 64th globally, ahead of a number of advanced European and American universities.


The report explained that between 2017 and 2024, the Pharmacy and Pharmacology major at CU has been making great strides in the international rankings, achieving a ranking of 64th globally in 2024, up from 151-200 in 2017.


The report highlighted the main criteria that have been focused on over the past seven years to allow CU’s Pharmacy and Pharmacology major to rank among the top 70 majors globally. The most important of these is international cooperation in research; international citation coefficients; international reputation; the citation rate for each research paper, reflecting its quality; and academic reputation, which last constitutes a key factor in evaluating the quality of education and affects its attractiveness to students and researchers.


Dr. Elkhosht announced that the Pharmacy and Pharmacology major at CU being ranked 64th globally is an important achievement that reflects academic and scientific excellence at the international level, and enhances the academic standing of Cairo University, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine both at the African level and globally.


For her part, Dr. Ghada Abdel Bari said that the College of Pharmacy is one of the leading academic entities in the field of pharmacy and pharmacology at the global level, thanks to its commitment to quality, scientific research and continuing development.


For the first time in the history of Egyptian universities, six CU majors have entered the top 100 worldwide according to the QS classification of majors for 2024, by dint of CU’s significant development in many majors as part of its transition into a fourth- and fifth-generation university.
