The President of Cairo University Welcomes a Delegation from the Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing House
The president of Cairo University has discussed strengthening collaboration between Cairo University and the Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing House and lauded its donation of 350 books as a cornerstone for initiatives and partnerships in translation and cultural exchange.
Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek: The Chinese language enjoys growing prominence at Cairo University as it is the most widely spoken language globally. The university administration is keen to expand its Chinese studies programme.
The Chinese delegation expressed pride in their collaboration with Cairo University and looks forward to expanding cooperation in publishing the sciences of physics, mathematics, and chemistry as part of international partnerships fostered by the Chinese Publishing House.
Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing House, headed by Mr Huang Liang, in the Ahmed Lotfy El-Sayed Hall to discuss avenues of cooperation. The meeting also marked the launch of an initiative to donate 350 books from the publishing house to the Confucius Institute at Cairo University, serving as a foundation for further translation and cultural exchange partnerships.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof Abdel-Sadek expressed his profound appreciation for the Chinese delegation, underscoring Cairo Universitys pride in its extensive collaborations with major Chinese universities and institutions across academic and research domains. He highlighted the strategic depth of Egyptian-Chinese relations, the close ties between the two ancient civilisations, and their rich histories. He added that the Chinese language is gaining increasing attention at Cairo University, recognising its status as the most widely spoken language in the world.
Prof Abdel-Sadek also expressed gratitude to the Chinese delegation for their generous donation of books to the Confucius Institute at Cairo University. He emphasised the importance of cultural exchange in light of Cairo University’s commitment to strengthening its ties with leading Chinese universities and institutions.
The Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing House delegation expressed their delight at visiting Cairo University and congratulated Prof Abdel-Sadek on his appointment as University President. They also thanked the Confucius Institutes leadership for their ongoing efforts to bolster Egyptian-Chinese cooperation.
Mr Huang Liang highlighted the various partnerships and initiatives the Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing House has with numerous organisations and institutions around the globe, initiatives that have played a key role in promoting the Chinese language. He noted that the Chinese Peoples Educational Publishing Houses publications reach nearly half of China’s population and contain vast information about many countries, including insights into Egyptian civilisation.
At the end of the meeting, both parties exchanged commemorative shields and gifts.
