For the third consecutive time, the international accreditation of the Architecture Engineering and Technology programme at Cairo University s Faculty of Engineering has been renewed for 5 years by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects.



Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek stated that this renewal enhances Cairo University s position in international rankings and strengthens the global standing of the Faculty of Engineering.



The University President added that the Faculty of Engineering, through all its departments, contributes to mega projects and dedicates its research to serving the state s development plans.



Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek: The internationally accredited programme is one of the specialised credit-hour programmes at the Faculty of Engineering. We have developed its curricula to align with the latest global systems and meet international accreditation standards.




Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, announced that the Faculty of Engineering has received a renewal of international accreditation for its "Architecture Engineering and Technology" programme from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the International Union of Architects (UIA) for another five years. This decision followed a visit by a committee of global experts in the field of architectural engineering from 22 October to 24 October 2024, who examined all the programme’s academic documentation and reviewed its human resources.



The President of Cairo University affirmed that the renewal of international academic accreditation for the Architecture Engineering and Technology programme enhances the global standing of the Faculty of Engineering and elevates the university’s position in international rankings. He highlighted the significant role the Faculty of Engineering, across all its departments, plays in supporting major national projects and tailoring scientific research to serve developmental plans, thanks to the efforts of the college’s administration and faculty members.



Prof Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek expressed his gratitude to the Faculty of Engineering family, particularly to Prof Hossam Abdel Fattah, the Dean of the Faculty, as well as the faculty s vice deans and teaching staff, for their exceptional efforts in renewing the programme s international accreditation.



Prof Hossam Abdel Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, explained that the Architecture Engineering and Technology programme is one of the faculty’s specialised credit-hour programmes. Its curricula were developed, and it first received unconditional international accreditation in 2016 for three years, which was then renewed in 2019 for an additional five years. The programme was announced to be renewed in October 2024, extending the accreditation for another five years. He noted that the accreditation committee, affiliated with UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, aims to establish an international standard of excellence in architectural education and to ensure the quality of education in the field of architectural engineering in accordance with global standards.



The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering added that during the accreditation visit, numerous interviews, listening sessions, and discussions were held with all parties involved in the educational process, including the teaching team, administrative staff, alumni, students, industry representatives, and the Engineers Syndicate.
