Knowledge Availability and Information Accessibility Rights in Arab Communities


Sponsored by Dr.\ Hossam Kamel, President of Cairo University, activities of the 10th scientific conference for Librarianship, Archives, and Information Science Department, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, will start on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The conference is entitled "Knowledge Availability and Information Accessibility Rights in Arab Communities", and it will last for two days. Noteworthy, the conference will take place at New Central Library, Cairo University through participation of elite of information science, librarianship, and archives specialists in Egypt and the Arab World.


"The conference aims at shedding light on the bases needed for knowledge availability and information accessibility in the Arab World in terms of legislations, structures, resources, and techniques. It also aims at monitoring role of librarianship, archives, and museums in knowledge availability and information accessibility, as well as foreseeing future of knowledge availability and information accessibility issue and its role in transforming Arab communities into modern democracies", said Dr.\ Mohamed Fathy Abdul-Hady, Professor of Librarianship, Archives, and Information Science Department, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.


Dr.\ Wafaa Sadek, Professor of Librarianship, Archives, and Information Science Department, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, has pointed out that the conference's tasks are related to knowledge availability, challenges of information access, information ethics, data privacy, and information crimes. She has also added that the conference will discuss about 40 researches and work files, and about 200 specialists of Egyptian and Arab Universities will participate in its tasks.
