Cairo University's students started the study of the new academic year; 2012/2013. Former and new students are being received at their faculties inside and outside the university campus which witnessed a protest of Cairo University's employees who demanded the increase of their fees as well as enhancing their financial conditions, demanding by this achieving equality with staff members. Youth Care Administers and Students Union are responsible for guiding students and getting them acquainted with places of lectures and student activities, distributing student guide, getting students acquainted with student activities and how to participate in activities.
In the context of Cairo University Project for boosting books in faculties of large numbers, Prof. Dr.\ Hossam Kamel, Cairo University's President, has said that university books will be affordable to students by reducing their prices and allowing enrolled students to dwell in hostels in the first two weeks of study according to a timeline. Prof. Dr.\ Ezz El Din Abu Steit, Vice Dean of Cairo University for Education and Students Affairs has affirmed that the university made innovations at its hostels and made a plan for student activities to help developing their skills.
Prof. Dr.\ Hossam Kamel has announced that he estimates employees of the university and he stressed that they are a vital element in the academic organization with staff members. He said: In the university, we are all one family that consists of staff members, employees, and students, the university administration supports employees in their current demands, pointing out that the Pentathlonn Committee of Universities Presidents, which is assigned by the Supreme Council of Universities, is examining demands of employees at the level of governmental universities.
