Results of the second version of webometrics to evaluate the quality of the educational and research services for more than 15,000 university at the international level, have shown that Cairo University retains its place in the Spanish ranking within the best 500 university at the international level, the first over the Egyptian Universities, the second over Africa and the Arab World, and ranked the 358 place at the international level in the second version of the Spanish ranking of year 2014 according to a report published by "webometrics" organization since two days of July 2014 version.
The university ranked first among Egyptian universities, the second in Africa after the University of Cape Town in South Africa and also the second in the Arab world after King Saud University.
Dr.\ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, has mentioned that listing Cairo University within the top 500 universities in the Spanish ranking in the two versions of January and July for year 2014 for the first time since years acts as a coronation of the university's efforts in registering scientific researches of staff members and linking them with the international internet web. This motivates the university to exert more efforts to exist continuously in advanced places in the global ranking through developing the criteria related to these rankings.
Dr.\ Gamal Essmat, vice-president of Cairo University for research and higher studies affairs, has revealed that the university works on developing the electronic services necessary to allow the scientific activities of staff members to appear on the electronic portal of the university which is supervised by a group of specialists of Faculty of Computers and Information at the university.
