Cairo University and Nile University Sign a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Nanotechnology Field

Cairo University and Nile University have signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the nanotechnology field. The agreement has been signed by Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, Prof. Dr. Tarek Khalil, President of Nile University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Said Daw, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development, Vice Presidents of Nile University and a number of professors.

The cooperation is implied in a number of educational and research activities and training that are associated with Nanotechnology. It includes exchanging competencies and experiences from the academic staff and researchers from Egypt Nanotechnology Research Center, affiliated to Cairo University and Nile University. As well as allowing the options available at the two universities represented in research laboratories and libraries to boost nanotechnology researches. It also covers the formation of joint research teams that work through specific research programs in the framework of time-bound work plan in a number of topics linked to nanotechnology, as well as applying annually to joint research project through contracting with the concerned corporations, authorities and parties of academic research boosting which serve industry. The cooperation also involves providing post graduate students of Nile University with opportunities of benefitting from experimental potentials at Egypt Nanotechnology Research Center – Cairo University where it was established in 2013 to prepare cadres in the nanotechnology field.

Besides exchanging educational services, establishing joint programs of continuous training and education that work on widening the scientific research database, and activating this through specific agreements of every program that determine the contribution of each side.

Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar said that Egypt can progress in nanotechnology by developing the Egyptian experience and raising the level of graduate studies in this field. He referred to the abundance of cadres, competencies and researchers in the Egyptian Universities who have patents in developing productions using nanotechnology.

Prof. Dr. Tarek Khalil, President of Nile University, said that a coordinator will be appointed for the agreement signed with Cairo University to follow-up the procedures of activating it and ultimately benefit from the joint cooperation between the two universities.
