Cairo University Sends a Medical Convoy to the Red Sea Governorate Checking-up 280 Patients and Conducting 145 Hepadnaviridae Analyses and 22 Surgical Operations

Prof. Dr.\ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, has displayed a report about the work of the free medical convoy launched by Cairo University through Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, to Red Sea Governorate by the end of September 2014 to offer therapeutic services to inhabitants of the governorate. This is in the framework of the comprehensive development project which is offered by Cairo University through Community Service and Environment Development Sector for remote areas and countryside in Egypt. It is supervised by Prof. Dr.\ Gamal Abdul-Nasser, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs.
The convoy which is launched to Red Sea Governorate is sponsored by Dr.\ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, and Major General Ahmed Abdullah, Governor of Red Sea. The convoy is provided with an amount of medicine and includes a number of professors of Faculty of Medicine in different medical specialties. This was illustrated by Dr.\ Mohamed Shehata, General Supervisor of Medical Convoys at Cairo University. Mohamed Zayed, Administrative Coordinator of Cairo University Convoys Project, has said that the convoy undertook medical and therapeutic activities at Hurghada General Hospital through coordination with Directorate of Health Affairs at the Governorate. The activities included using speculum in 280 medical conditions at Hurghada General Hospital with offering treatment to them, conducting 145 Hepadnaviridae analyses, 22 digestive system speculums, 6 blood vessels operations, 7 gynecologist operations, 6 conjunctivitis operations, and 3 nose and ear operations. Besides, specialist professors of the convoy have inspected intensive care departments for cardiology, neurosurgery, critical cases, and premature babies at the hospital. They have also held a workshop for youth physicians at Hurghada General Hospital in fields of critical operations and emergency. Zayed has also said that Medical Convoys Project of Cairo University has witnessed a growth during year 2014 for being extended to remote governorates, upper-Egypt governorates and development projects areas.
