Sponsored by Professor Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, and Professor Gamal Essmat, Vice President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies and Research, the fifth international symposium, entitled “Modern Trends in Physics Researches”, is organized by the Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, in the period from 15 – 19/ December, 2014, at 5 p.m. sharp, at the New Central Library, Cairo University.
The symposium is boosted by Professor Mahmoud Saqr, Head of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and headed by Professor El-Sayed Fahim, Dean of Faculty of Science, and the Honorary Symposium Chairs, Prof. Mostafa A. El-Sayed, Plenary Professor, Prof. Julius Brown, Chair and Regents Professor; Director of Laser Dynamics Laboratory, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, US.
A group of Professors and specialists of physics field as well as an elite of staff members, faculty and university students participate in and attend the symposium in which 75 Egyptian researches, and 15 researches from foreign professors represented in 3 from Russia, 4 from India, 2 from America, 2 from Pakistan, 2 from Saudi Arabia, 1 from Korea, and 1 from Greece have been submitted.
Professor Lotfeya Al-Nady, the Symposium Rapporteur and Professor of Nuclear Physics and Laser at Faculty of Science, Cairo University, and National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences (NILES), has said that the symposium’s themes revolve around Nanotechnology and the modality of its implementation in all fields; most important of which are medicine and cancer control, applications of high-intensity laser in sea water desalination and generation of electricity, as well as applications of high energy in studying new materials like Higgs Particle.
Al-Nady has also referred to the honorary lecture that will be delivered by Prof. Mostafa A. El-Sayed on the second day of the symposium, at 10 a.m. sharp, at Al Valandara Steamer. The lecture is regarded as one of the most important lectures of the symposium on Nanotechnology. Noteworthy, the rest of the symposium’s activities will be at Luxor City.
