Cairo and Beijing Universities Conclude Egyptian-Chinese Strategic Forum First Tournament Discussions at Beijing in Participation with Professors, Experts from Both Countries

Confucius Institute – Cairo University organized The Egyptian-Chinese Strategic Forum in cooperation with The Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, headquartered in China and sponsored by both Beijing and Cairo Universities. The first tournament of the forum was held at Beijing University, China, in the period from November 26 – 27, 2016, in the framework of the activities of the Egyptian-Chinese cultural year and the passage of 60 years since founding diplomatic relations between Egypt and China.
A group of Egyptian figures participated in the first tournament of the forum. They are the Chair of Chinese Department and the Director of Confucius Institute at Cairo University Rehab Mahmoud, the Chair of Board of Al-Ahram Administration Ahmed El-Sayed El-Naggar. The Cultural Consultant of Egyptian Embassy at China Hussein Ibrahim, The Vice-Dean of Faculty of Economics and Political Science Sherin El-Shawarby, and two professors of Faculty of Economics and Political Science Dr. Mona El-Gorf and Dr. Marwa Shebl also participated. The Vice-Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University Ahmed Wagdy, the Vice-Dean of Faculty of Science at Cairo University Tarek El-Arabi, a Professor of Faculty of Science at Cairo University Ahmed Fahmy and a Professor of Political Science at Cairo University Mustafa Elwi participated in the forum first tournament. A Professor of Chinese at Ain Shams Omaima Ghanem, a Professor of Chinese at Ain Shams Nahed Abdullah, a Lecturer of Archaeology at Cairo University Mahmoud Roshdy, specialist professors from Beijing University and officials at the Chinese Ministry of Exterior also participated.
The Director of Confucius Institute at Cairo University Rehab Mahmoud said that ،،the discussion in the Chinese-Egyptian Strategic Forum included four themes that revolved around important issues in the Egyptian-Chinese relations at political, economic, cultural and technological levels. The themes included the development of strategic and political relations between Egypt and China, cooperation between Egypt and China in combating terrorism and the significance of Egypt participation in The Belt and Road strategy. The forum also discussed economic cooperation fields between Egypt and China, means of benefitting from China efficiency in producing industrial ability, raising the Egyptian industrial ability and horizons of cooperation between Egypt and China in the industrial area at Suez Canal.,,
Prof. Dr. Rehab Mahmoud added that ،،the forum tackled the history of cultural exchange between Egypt and China through Maritime Silk Road and the practical developments of enlisting Maritime Silk Road in the global civilizations heritage list. The discussion also handled some joint issues in water field, such as; deficiency of water resources, environmental pollution, methods of protecting and operating water resources, modern techniques of water purification, mechanisms of water management at great cities and the distribution of water resources.,,
Those who participated in the forum activities urged the importance of enhancing communication between Egypt and China which is aimed at boosting cooperation between the two countries at all levels as well as political communication between the two countries to achieve The Belt and Road initiative and increase cultural and educational exchanges.
Prof. Dr. Rehab Mahmoud announced that،، it is scheduled that Cairo University hosts the second tournament of the forum during May 2017 in participation with Egyptian and Chinese professors and experts.,, She pointed out that ،،the forum is aimed at boosting the Egyptian-Chinese relations by establishing political, economic, cultural and technological frameworks to boost those relations.,,
