Cairo University Finishes Preparations for Student Elections … Elkhosht: Cairo University Treating all Students Fairly

 Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht orders Cairo University deans to initiate the procedures implementation of student union elections from Wednesday, November 29, 2017, provided that daily report on student elections work is sent to the university president during the electoral period.

Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht stresses that he is keen on conducting student elections within a framework of freedom, transparency, and university traditions respect among students. He pointed out that Cairo University is fair to all its students and allows free and civilized competition among them within a democratic framework combined with discipline and fair competition rules.

Elkhosht said that Cairo University is ready to conduct student elections and provide fair competitive environment to enable students to choose their representatives in student unions freely and consciously.

Cairo University President calls students for subjecting the electoral process to rational criteria and not to be deceived by slogans so that the ability to serve creative student activities remains the main criteria of elections.

The electoral process of student unions starts by allowing candidacy opportunity for all the seats of faculty unions. Initiative rolls of candidate students are announced on Sunday, December 2, 2017. Electoral appeals are received on Monday, December 4, 2017, and examined on the following day. Final candidate rolls are announced on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, and electoral advertisement starts on the following day.

The first tournament of student elections, votes tallying, and results announcement start on Sunday, December 10, 2017, and re-elections are on the following day at faculties. The elections of committee trustees and their assistants are conducted at faculty level on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. The elections of union chiefs and their assistants are conducted at faculty level on the following day. Student elections are concluded by electing committee trustees, their assistants, and union chief at university level on December 14, 2017.
