Cairo University Celebrates Science Day Next Sunday and Honors Elite of its Scientists, Thinkers and Youth Innovators for Winning National and Global Awards

 Sponsored and attended by Engineer Ibrahim Mahlab, the Egyptian Prime Minister, Professor Sayed Abdul-Khalek, Minister of Higher Education, and Professor Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, Cairo University celebrates the thirteenth Science Day (the sixth Cairo-University Day after the first centennial) on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Grand Celebration Hall, Cairo University. The celebration starts at 4:30 p.m. with Cairo University’ Council procession, then the national anthem, followed by recitation of the Holy Quran verses. Then Professor Gamal Abd El-Nasser, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development, delivers the opening speech, followed by a documentary film about Cairo University, then the great scientist Professor Ibrahim Badran, awarded Pioneers Prize donated by the state, delivers the honorees speech, then Nassar, Abdul-Khalek, and Mahlab talk respectively. After that, the honoring ceremonials of Cairo University’s sons start, including scientists, researchers who won state awards and university awards in various fields, as well as the professors who won global  awards during 2014, and the brilliant youth of Faculty of Engineering who won international awards in global competitionm,s for innovators. Science Day ceremony is concluded by a concert of the Arab Music Band guided by the maestro Selim Sahab. Community Service and Environment Development Sector has drafted a festschrift that encompasses the celebration activities and the honorees’ names and resumes, and prepared some activities that escorted the celebration. The university honors 16 of its scientists and thinkers who won state awards, 18 winners of various university awards, 4 winners of global awards in science, technology and scientific research, and 3 of youth innovators of Faculty of Engineering.   



Honoring Cairo University’s sons of scientists and researchers who won state awards this year in Science Day includes Professor Ibrahim Badran, won Pioneers Award, Professor Awatef Abdul-Rahman, won State Merit Award in Social Sciences, Professor Nabila Hanem Ibrahim, won State Merit Award in Social Sciences, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Etman Nasr, won State Merit Award in Literature, Professor Mohamed Abdul-Aziz Zaher, won State Merit Award in Agricultural Sciences, Professor Radwan Sedky Farag, won State Merit Award in “Agricultural” Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Mohamed Sherif Omar, won “Medical” Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Mo’mena Abdul-Wahab Kamel, State Merit Award in Medical Sciences, Professor Yehia Ahmed Bahei-El-Din, won State Merit Award in “Engineering” Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Moataz Sayed Abdullah, won State Award for Excellence in Social Sciences, Professor Mohamed Morsy Al-Kahlawy, won State Award for Excellence in Social Sciences, Professor Eid Hasan Abdul-Rahman, won State Award for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Professor Karim Mohamed Fawzy, won State Award of Encouragement in Medical Sciences, Professor Marwa Adly Mohamed Saleh, won State Award of Encouragement in Medical Sciences, Professor Ahmed Mohamed Ali El-Beheiry, won State Award of Encouragement in Agricultural Sciences, and Professor Hussam-El-Din Saad El-Beltagy, won State Award of Encouragement in Agricultural Sciences.



The honoring also includes those who won various Cairo-University Awards; Excellence, Merit, Encouragement and Invention Awards of year 2014. They are Professor Taymour Mustafa Ibrahim, won Excellence Award in Medical Sciences, Professor Abdul-Zaher Abu-Zeid, won Excellence Award in Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Fathy Abdul-Aaty Ghaffar, won university Merit Award in Bseic Sciences, Professor Mohamed Abdul-Gawad Abdul-Salam, won university Merit Award in Basic Sciences, Professor Hussein Abdul-Haii Qaoud, won university Merit Award in Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Mona Fouad Ali Abdul-Ghany, won university Excellence Award in Human and Educational Sciences, Professor Mahmoud Al-Said Mahmoud, won university Excellence Award in Social Sciences, Professor Eman Salah-El-Din Al-Mahllawy, won university Excellence Award in Engineering Sciences, Professor Mohamed Abdul-Moneim Radwan, won university Excellence Award in Environmental Sciences, Professor Sayed Mohamed Sayed Hemeda, won university Encouragement Award in Human Sciences, Professor Harby Ezz-El-Din Hasan, won university Encouragement Award in Human Sciences, Professor Ahmed Gomaa Ahmed Radwan, won university Encouragement Award inMedical Sciences, Professor Ghada Ahmed Abdul-Bary, won university Encouragement Award in Medical Sciences, Professor Ghada Mohamed Nasr-El-Din won university Encouragement Award in Medical Sciences, Professor Hussam-El-Din Saad El-Beltagy, university Encouragement Award in Advanced Technological Sciences, Professor Ossama Mohamed Mustafa and Professor Hany Abul-Aziz El-Shimy, won university Invention Award.  



Cairo University also honors its sons who won global awards in year 2014; they are Professor Randa Mohamed Abdul-Karim and Professor Mona Mustafa Mohamed Amin for winning Arab Women Award in Science and Technology for Development, Professor Gamal Sayed Ali El-Barouty for winning International Scientific Publication Award “Misr El Kheir Foundation”, and Professor Abul Ela El-Eteify Hasanein for winning ISESCO Organization Award for Science and Technology.



Cairo-University Science Day Celebration witnesses this year honoring three brilliant youth from Faculty of Engineering for winning international awards in global competitions for innovator youth. They are Engineer Mohamed Radwan Hasan, Demonstrator of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, won the first award in the ninth International Microelectronic Olympiad of Armenia in October, 2014, Engineer Ahmed Mustafa Hafez, Demonstrator of Mechanical Power Engineering Department and representative of the faculty team who participated in a global competition of Philippines in 2014 for designing and manufacturing model of fuel-saving cars, and won the eighth place globally, Hamed Gamal Ahmed Ali, third year student at Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering Department and representative of student team in two international competitions; University Rover Challenge 2014 at USA during May 2014 for designing and manufacturing robots models that conduct exploration tasks on space surface and analyze soil samples, and the team won the ninth place in this competition, while the other competition was at Poland during September 2014, in which the team won the third place.
