A seminar entitled “Intellectual Property Rights” was held by the faculty of Computers and Information, Cairo University, on 12\12\2011. The seminar lecturers were Prof .Dr.\ Sherif Hashem, the vice president of the Information Technology Industry Development Commission supervised by the Communications Technology and Information Ministry, and prof. Dr.\ Muhammed Hegazy, the Intellectual Property Protection Office chairman.

The seminar covered several topics. Such topics are the essential intellectual property rights concepts, the intellectual property rights protection methods, intellectual property software considerations, displaying issues launched to local, Arabic, and international standards and the hurdles that confront the Authorship Rights and Intellectual Property Protection inventors in the information community, the procedures that the faculty must follow regarding Intellectual Property Rights in the scientific research field, the authorship and publishing field, the procedures that the faculty must follow regarding Intellectual Property Rights in the  software establishment field, and the students respect for Intellectual property Rights.
