Center for Foreign Languages and Professional Translation held a meeting headed by Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, and attended by Prof. Dr. Said Daw, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development, Prof. Dr. Amany Badawy, the Director of the Center, and members of Board of Directors, to review the performance of the center throughout the last year and discuss a development plan for its work in the coming phase which includes upgrading new educational and training programs, increasing publishing and translation in humanities field, participating in international fairs and initiating work at the new branch of the center at Al-Sheikh Zayed in the framework of the expansions made by the center for increasing its activity.
Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar has commended the efforts of Center for Foreign Languages and Professional Translation in developing the programs of teaching foreign languages and new programs in developing the skills of students and individuals, as well as its efforts in pumping a group of cultural projects related to works of translation and publishing in human sciences. Cairo University Project for Translation topped these efforts aiming at enriching the cultural and academic life of the university and founding a rostrum for ideological and cultural creativity inside Cairo University. Nassar illustrated the targets Cairo University aims at in its plans for developing the performance of all the centers and units affiliated to the university to develop the roles made by those centers in research fields, training and community service that addresses community organizations, authorities and individuals.
Prof. Dr. Said Daw confirmed the importance of boosting opportunities of integration and cooperation with the community to benefit from the efforts of research, educational and training centers of the university plus the importance of abiding by quality standards regarding the scientific research, education and training offered by centers and special units of the university. He pointed out that the experience of Center for Foreign Languages and Professional Translation is a good one as it contributes to enhancing the competitive ability of the university.
Prof. Dr. Amany Badawy, the Director of Center for Foreign Languages and Professional Translation, reviewed a report on the works of the center, through which she referred to the continuity of the center in developing and offering educational and training services for learners and achieving a high rate of growth over the previous months, as well as developing programs and courses for developing individual skills in foreign languages and making agreements of partnership with local and foreign organizations to offer experience in translation and Arabization field. She also referred to translating 50 books by the center in Cairo University Project for Translation and the participation of the center, for the first time, in Cairo International Book Fair with a group of volumes as a starting point towards marketing the volumes of the center of Mothers of Books and global authoresses.
The meeting discussed the participation of the center in Sharjah International Book Fair by November, as well as the preparations of the new center branch at Al-Sheikh Zayed to initiate its educational and training activity.
