A Seminar at Cairo University discusses the Emergence of Universities and their Development on the Coming Monday

In cooperation with New Central Library, Science Heritage Center – Cairo University organizes a seminar in the heritage field that discusses (The Universities Emergence and their Development), on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 12 p.m., at El-Tanwir Hall, the third floor, at Science Heritage Center, New Central Library.


The seminar is sponsored by Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, and managed by Dr. Hamed Eid, Director of Science Heritage Center. The seminar is going to be lectured by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamza, Professor of Archaeology and Islamic Civilization and Dean of Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University, Prof. Dr. Eman Amer, Professor of Modern History, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Moneim El-Gemeei, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Faculty of Arts, Fayoum University, Prof. Dr. Emad Abu-Ghazy, Professor of Library, Archives and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and Prof. Dr. Amany Refaat, Director of the Central Library and Professor of Librarianship, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, as well as the attendance of elite of professors and specialists in fields of archaeology, archives and history.


Hamed Eid illustrated that the seminar discusses the emergence of universities and their development through several themes; they are the emergence of universities and their development in medieval and modern centuries, universities and academic freedom – roots and concepts, universities independence – challenges and guarantees, the Egyptian University and its role in developing higher education in Egypt and the Arab region, and the role of the Egyptian University in spreading scientific culture.


Eid also added that the seminar tackles the review of a number of terms listed nowadays in the higher education world; such as university and academic freedom, the independence of university in Egypt and its counterparts in Western World, and pursuing quality as a life style.
