The activities of the first conference for scientific research and its practical applications have been launched under the slogan of (Steps towards a Society without Disability), which is organized by Community Service and Environment Development, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, at 10 a.m., October 25, 2015, Grand Celebration Hall, Cairo University.
The conference is inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Said El-Daw, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, attended by Prof. Dr. Wael El-Degwy, Former Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Alaa Balbaa, Dean of Faculty of Physical Therapy, Prof. Dr. Gihan El-Meniawy, Vice President of the Faculty for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, Vice Deans of Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University. The conference is also attended by a group of professors and specialists in medicine and physical therapy field, as well as delegations from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Italy and Jordan.
Prof. Dr. Said El-Daw confirmed in his speech on the physical therapy which serves the Egyptian community, and that the university aspires to serve the community through developing the physical therapy services. He also pointed out that the labor market benefits from the researches presented to the conference.
El-Daw added that Egypt represents an Arab sector in an Arab community. The results of the conference are necessarily reflected on society; pointing out that the rate of those with significant disabilities in Egypt, approximately counting 8 million disabled people, need a great number of physicians in the physical therapy field.
Alaa Balbaa illustrated that Faculty of Physical Therapy has obtained quality accreditation, and that the reference became for all the faculties that aspires to obtain ISO, thanks to their continued efforts and activities. He referred to the continued contact between the Faculty and other Faculties of Physical Therapy at other universities to establish a committee at Supreme Council of Universities for Physical Therapy Sector Service, and that the faculty is to establish a center for physical therapy to habilitate disability. He confirmed that (No Disability) project serves more than 1500 patients approximately. Balbaa added that effective steps have been taken with Prof. Dr. Ghada Waly, Minister of Ministry of Social Solidarity, concerning carrying out (No Disability) project which is also ongoing at the level of Arab states.
