Launching Activities of ISESCO – Cairo University Seminar on Educational Institutions Role in Supporting Multilateralism

ISESCO - the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) – Cairo University inaugurates the second seminar, entitled ،،The Role of Educational Institutions in Supporting Multilateralism,, , under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, Cairo University President. It is going to be held on Monday-Tuesday, 28-29 December, 2015, at 9 a.m., at Sawiris Hall – Faculty of Economics and Political Science.

Prof. Dr. Horeya said that moving towards focusing on the concept of (me and others) instead of (me and us) in the framework of multilateralism, the basis of a state, requires stressing mutual coexistence and social tolerance values. This raises the questions on the role of educational institutions and the extent of their continuity and change in their role with globalization influence, as well as how educational institutions seek activating their role in facing rapid changes.

Prof. Dr. Hala Al-Said confirmed the importance of the seminar topic especially in the light of globalization and modern technology which enable any society to isolate them from the outside. She also stressed that the negative aspects we coexist nowadays should be tackled, as well as maintaining values and ethics in our Arab societies.

Dr. Al-Said added that mass media plays an important role in society because it contributes to forming the thought and values of a society, especially under the raise of illiteracy rates. Moreover, Faculty of Economics and Political Science plays a crucial role in spreading awareness among students and providing them with skills for opening up to the outside world, and enlightening students.

Prof. Dr. Salah el-Din Al-jaafarawi, ISESCO Representative, said that denying multilateralism causes enmity and conflict between individuals, pointing out that young generations should be taught religious and cultural multilateralism for the sake of a world of sound citizenship values for coexisting with states and maintaining international security and peace.
