Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, Cairo University President, reviewed a report on the progress of first term exams of the academic year 2015/2016. The report included the number of cheating cases that took place at the university faculties during first term exams, 2015/2016, and comparing them to the second term exams of the previous year 2014/2015.
The report illustrated that cheating cases among Cairo University students decreased in the first term exams of this year at rate of 40% compared to their counterpart in the second term exams of last year.
The report illustrated also that the total cheating cases in finished first term exams at faculties reached 520 cheating cases, whereas they were 859 cases in the second term exams of the previous year.
Cheating cases decreased in some faculties like Faculty of Law reaching 337 cheating cases this year in comparison with the second term exams of the last year which were 526 cheating cases. Additionally, they decreased in Faculty of Commerce, reaching 43 cases in first term exams this year, whereas they were 135 cases in second term exams the last year. On the other hand, some faculties like Faculty of Urban Planning, Nursing, Computers and Information, Physical Therapy and Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine did not witness any cheating cases, while Faculty of Economics and Political Science witnessed only one case.
Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar, Cairo University President, said that the decrease in cheating case rate at Cairo University faculties this year in comparison with the previous exams is attributable to several tracks, including activating cheat or attempting to cheat sanctions, approved by Cairo University Council. Additionally, providing proctors from staff members at exam halls, and starting some faculties to apply new exam systems ،،Double Sheet,, which was firstly applied in Faculties of Dar El-Ulum and Commerce. This exam system does not have the problems of essay questions and it saves time and effort of both staff members and students.
