Cairo University President Gaber Nassar announced that Faculty of Computers and Information and National Cancer Institute won the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education. Both institutions obtained Quality Assurance and Accreditation after meeting all the academic criteria of quality requirements regarding institutional ability and educational effectiveness. The number of Cairo University faculties that got Quality Assurance and Accreditation until now are 14 faculties. The winning institutions are Pharmacy, Agriculture, Medicine, Economics and Political Science, Nursing, Telecommunications Engineering, Oral and Dental Medicine. In addition, Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Science, Urban Planning, Kindergarten and finally Computers and Information and National Cancer Institute won Quality Assurance and Accreditation. The university president said that ،،nine faculties out of 14 faculties won Quality Assurance and Accreditation during the last three years. ,,
Cairo University President Gaber Nassar said that ،،some faculties of the university and some study programs in them are highly rated which enabled them of matching accreditation practices lists and the international models of Quality and Accreditation institutions. ,, He pointed out that ،،Cairo University seeks providing resources and potentials necessary for developing the elements of the educational and research process and Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation at Cairo University helps faculties in preparing the reports of resumes . Those reports enable faculties and study programs to receive field visits for assessment by the auditors of National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation. ,, Cairo University President added that ،،faculties of large numbers face a problem in accreditation; however, its study programs will be worked upon by offering high-quality educational service. ,,
Accreditation and Quality measurements focus on institutional ability and educational effectiveness according to National Authority for Quality and Accreditation of Education. Institutional ability includes strategic planning, administrative body, organizational structure, financial resources, community service and societal participation. Educational effectiveness includes curriculum, post-graduate studies and research level and the ratio between academic staff members number and students number.
The measurements are conducted on two stages. The first includes interior auditing for all the elements of educational, research and administrative system. The second includes performance assessment and helping faculties in applying to accreditation according to measurement criteria of higher education quality.
