Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department at Kasr Al-Ainy Medical School Holds Seventh International Conference in Cooperation with Hamburg University

The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology –Kasr Al-Ainy Medical School, Cairo University held the Seventh International Conference in cooperation with Institute of Legal Medicine, Hamburg University, Germany. The conference, entitled ،،Violence and Society: Between Present and Future,, , is to be held from December 4 – 6, 2016, at 9 a.m., Conference Hall, Kasr Al-Ainy Medical School.


The conference is sponsored by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar and Faculty of Medicine Dean Fathy Khodeir.


The conference tackles many themes; gender-based violence, violations and violence against children, violations and violence against the elderly, legal aspects of domestic violence, social aspects of domestic violence, the role of society in confronting domestic violence and the role of toxicology in gender-based violence.


،،It is scheduled that specialist professors from many Arab and global countries lecture in the conference to discuss means of protection and solutions, exchange experiences and discuss successful models in these countries,, , said the Chair of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology at Kasr Al-Ainy Medical School Dina Shokry. She pointed out that ،،the spread of the violence phenomenon in the Egyptian society is dangerous and have negative effects on social and economic aspects,, .


Dr. Dina Shokry added ،،the violence phenomenon in the Egyptian society needs more research and study to identify the most important causes of its outbreak and methods of treatment. ,,


The Conference Chair pointed out ،،positive interaction and great participation of specialists and those who are interested in this portfolio from concerned organizations and authorities whether governmental or not is a great hope in eliminating such a phenomenon.


Dr. Dina Shokry is the first woman to occupy Mediterranean Academy of Forensic Sciences President. She is also the Secretary-General of the Arab Society for Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine (ASFSFM), which is subordinate to Arab Medical Union, and Advisory Body Member of International Criminal Court.
