Cairo University Starts Carrying Out First Stage of Applied Research Projects in Fields of Energy, Food, Water Treatment, Slums at Cost of EGP 5, 000, 000

Cairo University President Gaber Nassar said that ،،the university is keen on scientific research and researchers.,, He also said that ،،Cairo University is concerned with research projects of societal priority.,, Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar added that ،،Cairo University is adhering to supporting scientific research, especially international publication, and research projects that serve society in different development fields. It contributes to finding solutions for the problems that face development. ,, This was said by Dr. Gaber Nassar during the celebration of funding the first stage of applied scientific research projects for some academic staff members at different faculties of the university, with Cairo University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Research Amr Adly attending.


Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar referred to the increase of international publication awards at the rate of 40 %, the increase of the university contribution to academic staff members travelling abroad to attend international conferences at the rate of 100 %. Nassar pointed out that ،،the university managed to overcome some problems that face scientific research among staff members most prominent of which are funding international publication, applied research projects, updating laboratories with the self-resources of university and increasing research partnership at the local and international levels.


Cairo University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Research Amr Adly pointed out that ،،the cost of the first stage of funding applied scientific research projects reached EGP 5,200,000. The university self-resources are concerned with endemic diseases, nutritional and agricultural needs, inter-disciplinary researches, alternative energy, slums and water treatment and desalination. ,,


Cairo University earlier announced allowing the opportunity of applying to applied research projects in fields related to development needs. Seventy-three researchers applied and the committee of arbitration chose research proposals to arbitrate them one by one to start carrying them out as a first stage. The number of researchers who received the contracts of the first stage are 15 researchers. They started their researches and are going to finish the results within 18 months to two years.
