Cairo University Council, headed by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar, agreed on treating Students Hospital physicians the same way Kasr Al-Aini Hospital physicians are treated in terms of the fees of M.Sc. and Ph.D. registration. The council approved launching a new postgraduate program, in the name of the late former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, to be financially and managerially run by Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
Cairo University Council approved the candidacy of the three members to join the Committee of Seven at Supreme Council of Universities formed to choose a new President for Cairo University. The committee encompasses former Cairo University President and Professor of Faculty of Engineering Ali Abdel-Rahman, former Cairo University President and Professor of Faculty of Law Mufid Shehab, Professor of Faculty of Medicine, at Cairo University, Hossam Badrawy and former Cairo University Vice-President for Education and Students Affairs Adel Zayed.
Cairo University Council decided to allocate a monetary award of EGP 100, 000 for the faculty having the highest international publications rate. This is aimed at encouraging academic staff members to publish international research. EGP 40, 000 award is to be distributed on the faculty department to spend them on the needs determined by the department council. EGP 10, 000 will be allocated for the department chair whom department wins the highest international publications rate, EGP 40, 000 for the faculty that achieves the highest international publication rate, and EGP 10, 000 for the faculty dean. This is included within the framework of institutional motivation for faculties.
Cairo University Council approved adding two travel tickets for visitor professors, graduated from Cairo University, who are concerned and whom history is distinctive abroad to deliver lectures in their disciplines at Cairo University. The share of each faculty in staying at Guest House, at Cairo University, is increased to become 47 days. The council also approved a monetary award of EGP 5000 maximum value for academic staff members who made ،Bubble Sheet, exams in their subjects to encourage the rest of academic staff members to take the direction of this sort of assessment methods.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar witnessed the meeting of Cairo University Council. The minister reviewed, during the meeting, the vision of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry during the coming duration that includes a group of main themes related to higher education quality, expatriates number increase and scientific research system inside universities and linking them to state needs. The minister said, during the meeting, that ،،the ministry plan for missions is the focus on specific scientific fields in community development and serving national projects.,,
