Faculty of Science at Cairo University Holds Commemorative Ceremony for Late Professor Atteya Ashour

Faculty of Science, Cairo University, holds commemorative ceremony for the late former Chair of Mathematics Department at Faculty of Science Professor Atteya Ashour at 5 p.m., Saturday May 20, 2017, at Conference Center, Cairo University Hostel. The commemorative ceremony is sponsored by Cairo University Gaber Nassar and Faculty of Science Dean Al-Sayed Fahim.

The commemorative ceremony is attended by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar, Faculty of Science Dean Al-Sayed Fahim, Chair of Mathematics Department at Faculty of Science Nasser Souilam and group of staff members from the university and out of it. The commemorative ceremony is attended by some members of the late Professor Atteya Ashour family.

Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar commended, in his speech delivered during the commemorative ceremony, the offerings of late Professor Atteya Ashour to the university, homeland and students all over Egypt. Nassar added that ،،scientist do not die but it is their bodies only that depart.,, He proceeded ،،their science remains clear proofs on earth to be utilized by people.,, He pointed out that ،،Cairo University draws much of its strength and position from the scientists who offered their services to homeland without personal demands.,, He added ،،their selflessness lies in making their best for the sake of university and homeland.,, 

Nassar said that ،،Faculty of Science at Cairo University always present scholars of high statures working in silence amid extremely difficult circumstances.,, He added ،،the late Professor Atteya Ashour was one of these gifted highly mannered scientists who lived their lives serving science and still have influence.,, 

Some of the likers of the late Professor Atteya Ashour, his colleagues, students and family members delivered their word during the commemorative ceremony conveying his great favor in developing mathematics.

The late Professor Atteya Abdel-Salam Ashour was born at Damietta Governorate. He got his bachelor of science in mathematics from Cairo University. He worked as a demonstrator, lecturer, Assistant Professor, Full Professor of applied mathematics, Professor, Professor Emeritus at Faculty of Science since 1984 until he died on April 17, 2017.

The late Professor occupied many local and international scientific positions. He won many scientific awards and medals. He presented many scientific writings, articles and papers. 

The commemorative ceremony is concluded by Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar presenting Cairo University shield to the wife of late Professor Atteya Ashour. The shield symbolizes Cairo University appreciation of the great scientific progress achieved by Professor Atteya Ashour throughout the previous years and his role in enriching mathematics at the local and international levels.
