Cairo University organizes Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) workshop, entitled ،،Egypt Vision 2030 - Youth Vision,, in cooperation with Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform (MPMAR) at Ahmed Lotfy Elsayed Hall – Cairo University, on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. The workshop is sponsored by Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht and Minister of MPMAR Hala Al-Said. The workshop is attended by Deputy Minister of MPMAR Nihal El-Megharbel, Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS)Vice-Dean for Education and Students Mohamed Al-Said, with 70 students from different faculties of Cairo University participating.
Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht has earlier agreed with Prof. Dr. Hala Al-Said on convening joint workshop with Cairo University students participating to acquaint university youth with the concept of sustainable development strategy and its relation to current developments in Egypt and the Arab World. Elkhosht said that ،،Cairo University works on engaging students in issues of homeland and challenges confrontation, and raising their awareness of planning operations and contributing to country development.,, He pointed out that ،،Youth are the backbone of country development. They should be engaged in all national issues especially those of particular interest to them.,, Elkhosht indicated the importance of raising youth awareness of sustainable development strategy and its themes, and working on activating the role of youth in participating in this strategy and achieving its goals.
Deputy Minister of MPMAR Nihal El-Megharbel said that ،، Sustainable development strategy targets the youth who participate in developing and carrying out its themes and targets.,, She pointed out that ،،Ministry of Planning works on sustainable development strategy in cooperation with other authorities including different government agencies, institutions, and sectors, in addition to some experts in different fields.,, El-Megharbel calls youth for acquiring the ability to develop this strategy and believe in its effective and important targets for the current stage. She said ،،The strategy is amendable and scalable by youth participation.,,
Dr. Nihal El-Migharbel illustrated that ،،The strategy is officially launched in Youth Conference February 2016. It is inclusive of 3 main themes including economic dimension, environmental dimension, and social dimension. In addition to 10 subthemes tackling economic development, knowledge, innovation and scientific research, energy, health, education, and training.,,
FEPS Vice-Dean for Education and Students Mohamed Al-Said pointed out that ،،Youth and students who represents future generation will benefit from this strategy.,, He added that ،،These youth meetings continue regularly and welcome universities students of all faculties and disciplines.,,
Participating students enunciated, during discussions, the importance of sustainable development strategy in current stage, which Egypt passes through, to choose the ways we should pursue and success indicators. They demanded the awareness of this strategy and recognition of its merits.
