Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, organizes a free medical convoy to cities of South of the Red Sea Governorate: Halayib and Shalateen, Marsa Alam, and Abu Ramada during the period from April 29 to May 3 to offer its therapeutic and medical services to citizens of the governorate in the hospitals subordinated to the Ministry of Health there. The convoy has been made in cooperation with Ministry of Health and Ministry of Youth and Sports. It is sponsored by Dr.\ Gaber Gad Nassar, President of Cairo University, and Dr.\ Gamal Abdul-Nasser, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service Affairs and Environment Development. It is also supervised by Dr.\ Hussein Khairy, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, and Dr.\ Khaled Hendawy, Faculty Vice Dean for Community Service and Environment Development.
Halayib and Shalateen Convoy includes about 20 professors from all medical specializations, headed by Dr.\ Mohamed Shehata Abdullah, Professor of Faculty of Medicine and General Supervisor of medical convoys of Cairo University. He confirmed that coordination has been made between Health Affairs Directorate and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health at the Red Sea to get the residents acquainted with the convoy and to prepare for reserving cases in hospitals. He said that the convoy will provide a large amount of medicine, tools, and surgical supplies. It also medically examines the residents of Halayib and Shalateen, Marsa Alam and Abu-Ramada. The convoy is examined by an Ophthalmologist microscope and FICO to perform cataract.
Noteworthy, medical convoys at Cairo University make regular visits to far governorates, such as; The Red Sea, The New Valley, Sinai, Matrouh, Siwa and Upper Egypt, as well as Giza and Delta providing them with therapeutic services in the framework of the services offered by Cairo University to society.
