Cairo University Forms a Supreme Committee to Evaluate Research Organization at the Level of the University

Dr.\ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, has issued a decree of forming a supreme committee for evaluating research organization of the university. It is headed by Dr.\ Hussein Khaled, Full Professor of National Cancer Institute and former Minister of Higher Education. The committee's members are: Dr.\ Nadia Zakhary, Full Professor of National Cancer Institute and previous Minister of Scientific Research, Dr.\ Hany Abdul-Aziz Al-Shimy, Professor of Faculty of Agriculture, Dr.\ Amr Amin Adly, Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering for Post-Graduate Studies and Research, Dr.\ Olfat Gamil Shaker, Professor of Faculty of Medicine, Dr.\ Mona Mustafa Amin, Professor of Faculty of Science, and Dr.\ Galal-ed-din Hamza Al-Gemeiy, professor of Faculty of Science, Helwan University.


The committee is responsible for evaluating the research organization in Cairo University, all procedures related to it, the problems which face it, suggesting solutions to develop research organization and promoting it, and evaluating what has been achieved in the academic year 2013/2014. The committee has the right to be assisted by scientific figures whether from inside the university or from outside it to achieve its responsibility which is related to preparing full evaluation of research organization aiming at promoting it. This includes executive mechanisms to promote scientific research and stimulate researchers and encourage applied researches which are related to solving problems of priority to the Egyptian society in fields like health, energy and production.


Noteworthy, Cairo University adopted several policies to develop research process during the previous period and promoting the international publication. This lead to a noticeable increase in the number of researchers at the level of Cairo University as well as increase of rates of international publication for scientific researches for about 20 % in the academic year 2013/2014 more than the last year.
