Faculty of Agriculture – Cairo University Holds a National Conference on the Egyptian Countryside Development

Center for Rural Development Researches and Studies (CRDRS) – Cairo University holds a national conference, entitled “Developing the Egyptian Countryside in New Institutional Context: Between Reality and Aspiration”, from 23-25 February, at 9 a.m., at Library and Information Center – Faculty of Agriculture.


 


The conference is sponsored by Minister of Agriculture and Lands Reclamation, Minister of Local Development, Minister of Higher Education, Cairo University President, and Dean of Faculty of Agriculture – Cairo University.


The conference aims at discussing the Egyptian rural problems, specifying its priorities, and suggesting the most convenient policies for solving this problem in the context of comprehensive strategy for developing sustainable rural development based on the state’s  and its organizations’ commitment to countryside development. 


More than 150 partners involved in the rural development in Egypt at all levels participate in the conference which includes specialists of rural development at the Egyptian Universities, research centers, executive officers at the involved ministries, representatives of peasants and their non-governmental organizations, representatives of international and foreign bodies involved in boosting the rural development in Egypt, as well as the private sector and representatives of the public sector which is involved in economic development.


This conference comes in the completely favorable context of political leadership concern. The state has recently paid great attention to the rural development issue. The outcomes of this conference can have obvious positive effect on the performance of the state’s systems and institutions.
