On 16/10/2015, Cairo University released a statement congratulating the Egyptian People and their leadership on electing Egypt as UN Security Council non-permanent member. The statement was: Cairo University congratulates the Great Egyptian People and their wise leadership on electing Egypt as UN Security Council non-permanent member. In its statement, Cairo University confirmed that the election of Egypt is a victory of the Egyptian People will on the forces of darkness and terrorism. It came also as an appreciation of the role of Egypt in fighting terrorism, and world recognition of the rationality of the vision of the Egyptian leadership which firmly stood against terrorism.
Cairo University statement also proceeded and said that the election of Egypt as UN Security Council non-permanent member obviously expresses the trust of international society in the ability of Egypt to positively contribute to making the international decision. This also confirms its leading role in enhancing peace and stability at both the regional and international levels, which contribute to enhancing the role of UN Security Council in maintaining international peace and security.
