Cairo University President: The University Takes Account of Scientific Research Substructure Development
Cairo University honored a group of faculties and institutes staff members at Cairo University for publishing scientific researches at the international level in 2015. These honored staff members reached 776 researchers from various faculties of the university. Cairo University honored them in a celebration held on July, 12, 2016, at Grand Celebration Hall, Cairo University. The University President distributed certificates of appreciation among the honorees and awarded them monetary prizes that hit EGPs11, 600, 000.
Prof. Dr. Gaber Nassar said, in his speech at the celebration, that scientific research is the outlet for our country problems as it is the groundwork of nations. He pointed out that the importance of concerning with scientific research substructure, providing researchers with suitable atmosphere and motivating them to conduct scientific research in the applied fields that society needs. Nassar added that Cairo University overcame some problems of scientific research by renewing laboratories, funding applied scientific research whether by exterior, local partnerships or the university resume resources. Moreover, the university undertook motivating researches by awarding them and affording the costs of their researches. Nassar also pointed out that scientific research can be a source of income for staff members.
Nassar said that Cairo University is considering increasing the awards of international research publication of the highest influence. He pointed out that the revenue of international publication for the university remarkably contributes to developing the ranking of the university at the global level. Moreover, the university is regarding the attraction of expatriate students, the increase of scientific mission opportunities and participation in international research projects as all this issues are relevant to the national income. Cairo University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Research Amr Adly said that the number of international researches published in the name of Cairo University in scientific journals in 2015 reached 1, 731 researches. Prof. Dr. Amr Adly pointed out that Cairo University funding for international publication developed from EGPs 8, 000, 000 in 2012 to EGPs 11, 600, 000 in 2015. He added that there are ten faculties at the university took hold of 93% of international research publication. These faculties are Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Nursing, Laser Institute, National Cancer Institute and Faculty of Arts. Adly said that Cairo University finances 71 research projects of staff members and they are being refereed. They are applied research projects in the fields of alternative energy, water treatment and desalination, endemic diseases, food and slums.
