Cairo University Concludes Animal Care Awareness Week by Lectures, Distributes Awards on Competition Winners

Cairo University concludes the awareness week activities of animal care held by the university in cooperation with The Egyptian Federation for Animal Welfare (EFAW) in the period from April 2-6, 2017. It is sponsored by Cairo University President Gaber Nassar to launch a new system on how to cooperate with animals.

The activities of the concluding day witnessed at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Cairo University when lectures were delivered by some faculty professors at both the departments of Zoonoses and Veterinary Hygiene and Management on April 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. Professor of Veterinary Anatomy Dr. Fawzy Abdel-Hakim delivered a lecture on tissue preservation techniques, the efforts of animal care system implementation, and solutions presentations for animal rights violation in society and raising awareness of it. One of the professors delivered a lecture on the danger of stray dogs. 

The awareness lectures were followed by a speech by EFAW in which Mona Khalil tackled the efforts of EFAW in raising awareness of animal care. The speech was followed by open discussions between students, professors and EFAW members.

The concluding day was wrapped up by distributing awards on the competition winners announced by the university. The two faculties that showed distinctive performance in the activity, presented during the animal care awareness week, won EGP 5000 as well as four awards of EGP 10, 000 value for the competition allocated for logo and poster design for animal care. The awards were distributed at Cairo University administration and witnessed by Cairo University Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development Saeed Daw, professors, students and EFAW members.
