Cairo University Senate, chaired by Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht, approves faculty and institute nominations for state awards for 2017 whether donated by Academy of Scientific Research and Technology or Supreme Council of Culture. The state awards are Nile and State merit awards in science, technology, art, literature, social sciences, Pioneer Awards, and Women Merit Award.


Cairo University Senate approves Nile Award in science for Dr. Lotfeya Elnady Professor of Faculty of Science, Nile Award in technology for Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Anis Professor of Faculty of Engineering, and Nile Award in art for Actor Mohamed Sobhy. The senate approves Nile Award in literature for Dr. Mohamed Hamdy Ibrahim Professor of Faculty of Arts, and Nile Award in social sciences for Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed Professor of Faculty of Arts.


Cairo University Senate approves State Merit Awards in science, technology, art, literature, and social sciences for some faculty members. It approves state merit award in basic science sector for Dr. Noureldin Tawfik Abdelghany Professor of Faculty of Science and state merit award in engineering sciences for Abdelzaher Mohamed Ali Abuzeid Professor of Faculty of Engineering. The senate approves state merit award in medical sciences for Dr. Taymour Mustafa Ibrahim Professor of Medicine, and state merit award in agricultural sciences for Dr. Hany Elshimy Dean of Faculty of Agriculture. It approves state merit award in technology for Dr. Yousry Mustafa Issa Professor of Faculty of Science, and state merit award in engineering sciences for Dr. Amir Fouad Serial Professor of Faculty of Engineering. State Merit Award is donated by Cairo University Senate in medical sciences for Dr. Hisham Gaber Elenany Professor of Faculty of Medicine and in agricultural sciences for Dr. Abdelaaty Mohamed Abdelaaty Professor of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.


State Merit Award in art is approved by Cairo University Senate for Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim Hussein Professor of Faculty of Archaeology, in literature for Dr. Abdelhakim Abdelrady Professor of Faculty of Arts, and in social sciences for Dr. Samiha Elqaliouby Professor of Faculty of Law. Pioneers Award is approved by the senate in basic science sectors for Dr. Raafat Kamel Wasef Professor of Faculty of Sciences, and in engineering sciences for Dr. Fathy Hasan Saleh Professor of Faculty of Engineering. Pioneers Award is approved by the senate in medical sciences for Dr. Mohamed Sobhy Zaky Professor of Faculty of Medicine, and in agricultural sciences for Dr. Soheir Mahmoud Sokkar Professor of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.


Women Merit Award is approved by Cairo University Senate in water, energy, and environmental sciences for Dr. Zeinab Saleh Safar Professor of Faculty of Engineering, in agriculture and nutrition sciences for Dr. Nagwa Abdelhamid Abdelbary Professor of Faculty of Agriculture, and in health and pharmaceutical sciences for Dr. Amal Mohamed Elbeshlawy Professor of Faculty of Medicine.


Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht said that Awards Senate Meeting at Cairo University reviews the scientific and practical biography of faculty state award candidates in the light of criteria approved by the university awards senate. Controls and conditions are approved by Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and Supreme Council of Culture for winning awards.
