International Workshop at Cairo University Recommends Expanding Youth Physician Training on Laser Uses in Laryngeal Diseases Therapy

 International workshop on laser applications in laryngeal surgery is held at National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences Cairo University (NILES - CU) and sponsored by Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht and NILES Dean Tarek Fahmy Elwakil. The workshop is attended by the global expert and Professor of Berlin University Tadeus Nawka, seven Egyptian experts, Chairs of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Departments and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Departments from Faculty of Medicine Kasr Ainy, Ain Shams University, Minia University, Benha University, Zagazig University, Mansoura University, Sohag University, and Ministry of Health institutes.


The seminar discusses laser applications and uses in vocal cord surgery and early diagnosis and therapy of laryngeal diseases. The workshop participants make tour in Laser Scientific Center – NILES to get introduced to the potentials it has and the services it presents to patients all over Egypt.


Professor of Ear, Nose, and Throat at Cairo University and the workshop coordinator Hazem Mohamed Ali Saleh said that the workshop participants recommend expanding youth physicians training on using Carbon dioxide laser in laryngeal diseases therapy. They also recommend increasing registered theses in this field, using electromyography (EMG) in diagnosing speech sound disorder (SSD), and fostering cooperation among physicians of Ear, Nose, and Throat, Speech-Language Pathology, and Neurophysiology, and laser experts for the patient interest. He added that the international workshop on laser applications in laryngeal surgery recommends benefitting from German and international experiences and NILES potentials in organizing similar workshops regularly to provide continuous medical training and education according to international standards.
