Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht acclaims Cairo University students winning advanced places in the festival of culture and art against discrimination held at Alexandria in partnership between Cairo University, Ministry of Youth and Sport, and the General Union for Egyptian Women. The festival is co-financed by European Union (EU) within the culture program in Mediterranean, and culture for all project.
Cairo University students win 7 different awards in the festival competitions concluded at Bibliotheca Alexandrina last week. Cairo University wins the first place in Best Actor competition, third place in Best Actress competition, second place in Best Playwright competition, and third place in Best Theatrical Show competition. Cairo University students win the first place in painting and photo-capture and third place in music.
Preparation for the festival has started several months ago in three governorates; Cairo, Minia, and Alexandria. Receiving play projects that tackle the discrimination issue is announced. The theatrical show of Cairo University is chosen to be the concluding show for the festival at Bibliotheca Alexandrina stage. It is attended by Bibliotheca Alexandrina President Mustafa Elfikky, The General Union for Egyptian Women President Hoda Badran, and Professor at Faculty of Arts Ahmed Ammar as a representative of Cairo University.
Cairo University is the only university that participated in the festival, whereas the Ministry of Youth and Sport participated with a large number of theatrical and musical groups and students talented in painting and photo-capture at Alexandria and Minia. The number of shows presented in the festival exceeded 25 theatrical shows.
