According to the report of Shanghai University during August concerning academic ranking of world universities, Cairo University has managed to keep its position as one of the best 500 universities in the world in 2013. It won as the university number 401 per 500 best universities in the world.
Cairo University is the only Egyptian university in the best 500 best universities in the world.
Dr. Gamal Essmat, Vice President of Cairo University for Post Graduate Studies and Researches, has illustrated that Cairo University's position in the Chinese ranking of world universities is due to the increase and variety of scientific researches internationally publicized in global periodicals and encyclopedias, such as; science and nature, as well as the good quality of staff members and the high level of their academic performance.
Essmat added that about 70 % of internationally published researches in the name of Cairo University are conducted by youth researchers. He also said that Cairo University has been carrying out a plan since 2008 intending the development of criteria concerning the academic ranking of world universities. The plan included boosting applied research projects and simulating staff members to publicize their researches at the international level in English, and sharing their researches internationally.
