Sport Union for Egyptian Universities has made a new achievement in Portugal through winning handball team at the level of the Egyptian Universities occupying the fifth place in the world's championship of handball which has been held in Portugal Gomez City during the period from 4 to 11/8/2014. Several teams which represent different countries in handball have participated in the championship. Dr.\ Ezz-ed-din Abu-Steit, Vice President of Cairo University for Education and Students Affairs, has headed sport union mission. He was accompanied by Saleh Abdul-Aziz, Secretary of Sport Union Fund for Universities, Wael Abdul-Aaty, Technical Manager for the Team, and Ahmed Akram, Physician of the Team.
Handball Team for Egyptian Universities which won the Fifth place in the world's Handball championship has been composed of 16 players; 3 students from Cairo University, 4 students from Ain Shams, two from Helwan and the rest were from private universities.
Dr.\ Abu-Steit has said that what the handball team achieved at the level of Egyptian Universities is considered a remarkable achievement in the championship in which strong teams from European and American Universities have participated. Abu-Steit has also added that Council of Education and Student Affairs, in the Supreme Council of Universities, has discussed, during the meeting held on August 12, the arrangements related to the new academic year, most important of which is intensifying student activity at the level of Egyptian Universities in cooperation with concerned ministries, boosting communication with students through student unions, and boosting security organization in universities which will be discussed by the Supreme Council of Universities in the next meeting.
