Cairo University Signs a cooperation Protocol with the Public Authority for Combating Illiteracy

Sponsored by Dr. \ Gaber Nassar, President of Cairo University, and supervised by Dr.\ Gamal Abdul-Nasser, Vice President of Cairo University for Community Service and Environment Development, Cairo University signs a mutual protocol with the Public Authority for Combating Authority, which is represented by Dr.\ Moheb Al-Rafei, Head of the Executive Body for the Authority, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 1 a.m., at Ahmed Lotfy As-Sayed Hall, Cairo University. 


This agreement comes in the light of the leading and important role which the Egyptian Universities play with all its faculties, institutes and research centers in community Service and Environment Development, through contributing in national issues especially the issue of illiteracy since it represents a real risk to the growth and development of Egyptian society.


Through this protocol Cairo University starts to carry out a pioneering experience that depends on four main theses. The first thesis is represented in that university students exert efforts, under the supervision of staff members and the concerned authorities (Community Service and Environment Development Sector -  Public Administration for Youth Care) for combating illiteracy of illiterate people in villages, districts and centers of Giza Governorate, provided that each student remove the illiteracy of 5 individuals.


The second thesis focuses mainly on combating illiteracy of all illiterate workers at the university, and announcing Cairo University free from illiteracy. The third thesis will deal with conducting field survey of the illiterates in Giza Governorate, whereas the fourth thesis depends on participating in lifting up and establishing the skills of the employees of Giza Branch for Adult Education technically regarding the educational process through holding training courses at Institute of Educational Studies and Research, Cairo University.
